# Global Search

> Fast lookup for markets, events, outcomes, and tickers.

Global Search is the shortest path to a known market. It should stay empty until the trader types, then prioritize exact market, event, outcome, and ticker matches.

## Search behavior

| Mode    | Behavior                                                           |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Query   | Searches active markets and events by typed text.                  |
| Presets | Shows curated starting points only when no query has been entered. |
| Results | Uses stable columns for market, volume, Yes, No, and end time.     |

## Result rules

* Exact title and event matches should rank above broad category matches.
* Active markets should rank above resolved or closed markets.
* A selected result should open the market page, not a generic event page, when a live market slug is available.

## Empty state

The input should not contain placeholder-heavy copy. A blank search field is acceptable because the control is already labeled by the surrounding UI.
